Natural History Museums in Nottingham

Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall – Welcome to one of the architectural splendours of Nottingham, built in true Tudor style during 1580-1588. Owned by the National City Council, The Wollaton Hall houses the City's Natural History Museum and Galleries.

The Industrial Museum is housed in the stable block and displays a myriad collection of textile, transport and technology used throughout the history of Nottingham. Check out the analogue telephone system, the Bassford Beam Engine, lace making machines, a variety of motor cars, motor cycles and cycles and the steam engine house.

Brewhouse Yard Museum in Nottingham

To experience what life was like in Nottingham 300 years ago, the Brewhouse Yard Museum, located under the rock at the Nottingham Castle, is the place to be. Spread across five restored cottages from the 17th century, the Museum of Nottingham Life gives realistic glimpses into the domestic, recreational, educational and commercial life of people in Nottingham. Imagine yourself as a member of a Victorian home and a student during the Edwardian era. Go back to the 1920s and enjoy shopping at a variety of shops including a Victorian chemist and an Edwardian grocer. Visitors can participate in a variety of family events and workshops that are held at the Museum all through the year.

The event is jointly organized with the New Art Exchange. The event starts at 7 am up to 5 pm. This is a free event and all are invited.

Talk by Dr Pamela Gerrish Nunn

As part of the ongoing “Laura Knight at the Theatre” celebrations, a special talk will be held on ’Dame Laura Knight’s Greatest Performance’ by Dr Pamela Gerrish Nunn, a leading researcher in women’s history and an Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Dame Laura Knight was Britain’s leading impressionist painter. All are cordially invited to the talk to be held on 25th September 2008 at the Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Off Maid Marian Way, Nottingham. The talk will start at 15 hours till 16.30 hours. Northern Ballet Theatre Dance Workshop

The cost of the event is £10 and the event is open to all.
