TAGB British Open Championships

Two thousand Tae Kwon-Do fighters, from over 450 clubs, will compete in the TAGB British Open Championships, on 12th October 2008 at the Trent FM Arena Nottingham. This event is organized by the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) which is the largest single martial arts organization in Europe. The Arena has been divided into 18 zones where all the participants including men, women and kids of all ranks will compete. The past champions from previous World and European tournaments will also contest.

Do Not Refreeze - Photography behind the Berlin Wall – is a unique event that brings together great names in the field photography such as Sibylle Bergemann, Ursula Arnold, Arno Fischer, Evelyn Richter, Helga Paris, Gundula Schulze Eldowy, Erasmus Schroeter, Maria Sewcz, and Ulrich Wüst whose have greatly contributed to European photography. They secretly developed their practice in former East Germany and their works depict the harsh realities as well as the daily life of the people living in Eastern Europe during those times under the communist rule. Over the years their stunning work has literally been ‘frozen out’ by the cold war.

This photography exhibition will be on from 27th September to 2nd October 2008 starting at 11 am till 5.00 pm everyday.

Join a UH Galleries Touring Exhibition on 26th September 2008 from 6.30 to 7.30 pm and participate in gallery talks with 16th October 2008 between 1.00 to 2.00 pm with exhibition curator Matthew Shaul at the Djangoly Art Gallery at the Lecture Theatre, Lakeside Arts Centre, University Park, Nottingham. Nottingham Children’s Festival

The month of August will see parents and children spending a lot of fun time together at Nottingham’s first ever children’s festival. Starting on the 1st of August through the 17th of August 2008, the Riverside Children’s Festival is aimed at children between the age 0-12. The festival will have arts and activities based on the theme of ’Myths and Legends’ from the world over. Children can enjoy a global picnic at Wollaton Park Horrible Histories or plays at the Theatre Royal, fun packed art activities at Lakeside Arts Centre, Children’s cinema at Broadway and participate in the innumerable fun to do things and workshops at libraries, museums and other interesting venues throughout Nottingham. The events start at 9 in the morning and go on till 5 in the evening.

These will be displayed at an exhibition to be held between the 19th and 28th of July 2008 at the Nottingham Castle, between 10 am to 4 pm. Except for the regular museum admission fees, there are no extra charges.

Lose yourself in the breath taking scenery, skilful ballet dancing and period costumes while enjoying this appealing and dramatic story. The performances will be held at the Theatre Square, Theatre Royal, Nottingham. With three shows to choose from, theatre lovers can either go for the 7.30 show on Friday 1st August or for the 2.30 pm or the 7.30 pm show on 2nd.
