Do Not Refreeze - Photography Behind The Berlin Wall

Date: 27 Sep – 2 Oct 2008
Location: Lakeside Arts Centre, University Park, Nottingham.
Do Not Refreeze - Photography behind the Berlin Wall – is a unique event that brings together great names in the field photography such as Sibylle Bergemann, Ursula Arnold, Arno Fischer, Evelyn Richter, Helga Paris, Gundula Schulze Eldowy, Erasmus Schroeter, Maria Sewcz, and Ulrich Wüst whose have greatly contributed to European photography. They secretly developed their practice in former East Germany and their works depict the harsh realities as well as the daily life of the people living in Eastern Europe during those times under the communist rule. Over the years their stunning work has literally been ‘frozen out’ by the cold war.
